The classic RIB tour from Frosta: 800 years of monastic history and one of Central Norway's richest bird reserves, seen from the sea.
We set course for Tautra and round the island close to shore. You see the ruins of the Cistercian monastery from 1207, the modern Mariaklosteret with its glass walls facing the fjord, and the bird reserve where eiders, long-tailed ducks and geese gather in large flocks. The guide tells about the monks, the pilgrims and life on the island while the boat lies still in the water. If you want to extend the day, we moor at Klostergården for local food and beer from the farm's own brewery.

Åsenfjorden and the skerries – speed, islets and fish soup
Feel the thrill on the open fjord, and be rewarded with what may be Norway's best fish soup at Sjøbua.
The tour heads into Åsenfjorden, where islets, skerries and green coves lie close together. Here the boat gets to show what it can do, before we slow down and look for porpoises and sea eagles. Halfway we moor 100 metres from Sjøbua, which serves fish soup made from local produce, fresh cinnamon swirls and beer from Klostergården. Then it's full speed home.

From Trondheim to Frosta – the fjord's best company kick-off
We pick you up at the quay in Trondheim city centre. A few minutes later the city is behind you and the fjord lies open.
Board in Trondheim, pass Munkholmen and head out the Trondheimsfjord towards Frosta. Along the way the guide tells about the fjord, the history of Munkholmen and life along the coast. On Frosta the next part of the day awaits: a farm visit with cider and sauna, a bird safari, a history tour or dinner in the boathouse. We take you back to the city afterwards, or you can take the bus home.

The Pilgrim Route – the sea road to Nidaros
Follow the waterway the pilgrims used between the monastery on Tautra and Nidaros Cathedral.
In the Middle Ages the fjord was the highway to Nidaros. We start at Tautra, where the monks ran a monastery from 1207, and cross the fjord towards Trondheim as the pilgrims did. The guide tells about Olav the Holy, monastic life and the sea road that bound Trøndelag together. The trip also works as a transfer if you are walking St. Olav's Way and want to save a day's stage.

Sunset and dinner at Frosta Brygge
A calm evening trip on the fjord as the sun goes down, and a table with a view waiting when you come ashore.
We glide out onto calm evening water, watch the sun sink behind the mountains on the other side of the fjord and follow the coast of the Frosta peninsula. After about an hour we moor at the floating pier at Frosta Brygge, the hotel with a beach bar and one of the best views on the fjord. Dinner is waiting there. The trip is popular for birthdays, anniversaries and client evenings.

Beyond the Fjord – RIB to the boathouse
RIB across the fjord and a long evening of food, candlelight and stories in an old boathouse on Frosta.
Beyond the Fjord is our evening experience for companies and groups of 8 to 60 people. You cross the fjord by RIB, come ashore at the boathouse and sit down at a long table with food from Mor og Far, candlelight and stories from Frosta. From NOK 950 per person, and as a Christmas party from NOK 1,150 per person, excluding drinks (from NOK 2,900 with RIB return from Trondheim).

Landing at Værnes? The experience can start a few minutes after you collect your luggage.
We pick you up in Stjørdal, a short distance from the airport, and take you straight out onto the fjord. From there the trip can go to Frosta, Tautra or Trondheim, and the day can be built around food, history or activities. A great choice for corporate groups and conference guests who want an arrival they will remember.

Råkvåg – the wharves of the Stjørnfjord
A long day at sea to the little wharf village of Råkvåg on Fosen.
We head out the Trondheimsfjord and into Stjørnfjorden to Råkvåg in Indre Fosen. The village has a wharf area worth preserving and is a popular stop for boaters. We go ashore, stroll among the wharves and take a break before heading back.

Stokkøya – out to the open sea
From the fjord to the outer coast of Fosen, where the ocean takes over.
Stokkøya in Åfjord lies on the outer side of the Fosen peninsula. The island is known for Stokkøya Sjøsenter and the Strandbaren beach bar, which has drawn attention for its distinctive modern architecture. On the northwest side lies the Hosensand protected landscape with drifting sand. The Hurtigruten coastal express passes through the narrow Stokksundet strait.

Frequently asked questions about RIB tours
Where does the RIB tour depart from?
The standard departure is the pier on Frosta, but we also pick up in Trondheim city centre, in Stjørdal and elsewhere along the Trondheimsfjord.
How much does a RIB tour on the Trondheimsfjord cost?
From NOK 1,650 per person. The price depends on the route, pick-up point and number of participants. A fixed price for the whole boat is available on request.
Do we need to bring any equipment?
No. We provide floatation suits, gloves and hats. Wear warm clothes underneath and good shoes.
How many people can join?
One RIB takes 12 people, and we can run up to five boats at the same time, so 60 guests.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety comes first. If the weather makes the trip unsafe, we find a new date together with you.
Can we combine the RIB tour with food and other activities?
Yes. The tours can be combined with dinner at Frosta Brygge, Sjøbua or Klostergården, with farm tourism, a bird safari, a history tour or Beyond the Fjord in the boathouse.
