  • If you want a guide and an e-bike, you can book the tour with us.

Frosta is one of the finest cycling communities in Trøndelag. The peninsula is not large, the roads are quiet, and you have the Trondheimsfjord around you almost all the time. Here are four suggestions, whether you ride on your own or want a local guide.

1. Historical loop: Tinghaugen, Logtun and Tautra

Cycle through a thousand years of history. Start at Tinghaugen, where the Frostating was held in the Middle Ages, and continue to Logtun church close by. Then ride out along the causeway to Tautra, which is about 2.4 km long, and finish at the monastery ruins from 1207 and Mariaklosteret. As a guided e-bike tour the loop takes about 3 hours and costs NOK 1,490 per person.

2. Around the Frosta trail

The whole peninsula on one ride: open fields, flower meadows, wooded hills and coastline with panoramic views of the fjord. The longest ride, and the one that shows most of Frosta. Guided by e-bike it takes about 4 hours and costs NOK 1,950 per person.

3. Forest trails and gravel

For those who want a bit more mountain biking. Gravel roads and narrow trails through the forest on Frosta, with a good chance of seeing wildlife and feeling the silence. About 3 hours, NOK 1,490 per person with guide and e-bike.

4. Family ride to Tautra

An easy ride for the whole family. Cycle out along the causeway to Tautra with the fjord on both sides, look for birds in the reserve and take a break by the monastery ruins. Klostergården has a restaurant and farm shop. Remember that Tautra is a nature reserve, so stay on roads and paths.

A break along the way

No bike ride on Frosta is complete without a stop at the Arntzen bakery at Frostavegen 1752. The well-known Arntzen bun is the perfect refuel. In summer you can also buy berries and vegetables at the farms along the road.

Practical tips

  • It can be windy by the fjord. Bring a windproof jacket.
  • With e-bikes, groups of different fitness levels easily keep together.
  • On guided tours, e-bike and helmet are included.
